Homemade Butterfingers

February 28, 2012

I was searching for a recipe yesterday when I came across these Homemade Butterfingers from Serious Eats.  You can access the recipe from this link-http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/01/bravetart-homemade-butterfinger-candy-bar-recipe.html.
My son Tony loves Butterfingers, they are his number one favorite.  He was walking past me as I started contemplating the recipe.  He was like, “You gotta make those MOM”.  If anyone else has a seventeen year old boy, you may feel like I did…If it means he will hang out with me a  little and give me some love, then absotushy!!!……
Then things got a little gloomy.  Biggest pain in my *** recipe ever!!!  There are lots of steps, you need some strength, and mostly a ton of patients!  If you have all these, by all means go for it they were incredible!!!
I’m gonna show you some pictures of the different steps to make it a little easier.
This is the beginning of the candy making process, it takes longer than you may think to get to the right temperature.  Be patient.
I took this picture to show you how you are going to fold the candy in between the next three steps.

This is the rolling process, you need a lot of elbow grease here!  I had Marc do it.
Be careful when you cut them so they don’t break.
And last but not least dip them in the tempered chocolate use this link to find instructions weets.seriouseats.com/2010/03/how-to-temper-chocolate.html
We had leftover chocolate so I couldn’t resist making chocolate covered OREOS, yummy yummy!!!
